For matters regarding residence and motor vehicle registration

You will need to make an appointment with the registry office for most matters regarding residence.

This is true for the City Hall and the city district offices (Hassee, Elmschenhagen, Pries/Friedrichsort, Neumühlen-Dietrichsdorf, Mettenhof and Suchsdorf).

We also generally recommend reserving an appointment for motor vehicle registration matters at Saarbrückenstraße 147.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please find out in good time about the required documents and fees at  www.kiel.de/service.

You can also get information about this from the public services telephone number  115.

Currently there are longer waiting times for appointments at the Einwohnermeldeamt (residents' registration office).

As from 15 November, simple matters relating to registration, passports and ID cards can be processed without an appointment in the residents’ registration office at City Hall, every Friday as from 7am. Please bring the necessary documentation with you and ask at the information desk. Please be prepared to wait. We can only process urgent matters in order to avoid longer waiting times.

We appreciate your understanding.
